Before processing, record source page count, deletion expression, removed count, kept count and expected first and last retained source pages. After download, open the output in an independent viewer. Confirm its page count equals the preview, then compare the first output page, the page before and after every removed interval, and the final output page with the source.
Inspect document features separately
If the source uses forms, internal or external links, comments, layers, bookmarks, attachments, page labels, accessibility tags or signatures, test each relevant feature in the destination. Visual resemblance is not enough. A source signature never signs the new serialized file, and deleting a visible page is not a certified redaction workflow.
Keep a reproducible record
For important ordinary workflows, retain the untouched source, the exact page expression and the downloaded file together. Re-run the same expression on the same source and compare the reported counts and relevant visible pages. File bytes can differ after tool or library updates, so destination content and requirements remain authoritative.
The result is a new PDF
PDFRemove does not edit the source container in place. It creates a blank PDF, copies the retained page objects in their original order and serializes a separate download. Document metadata, outlines, page labels, embedded files, portfolios, scripts, optional layers, tagged structure, PDF/A or PDF/X claims, usage rights, encryption, incremental revisions and digital signatures may not carry across. Forms, links, annotations, fonts and accessibility relationships can rely on document-level resources. Keep the source and never call the output signed, certified, archival, compliant or evidentiary merely because its visible pages look correct.
